LILLINGTON, N.C. (WTVD) -- A young woman is dead after a car overturned in a pond.
An ABC11 breaking news crew was at the scene near Norrington Road and Autry Road just west of Lillington in Harnett County.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol said the car hit a tree and traveled up an embankment before overturning in the pond around 2:45 a.m.
More than 12 hours later, friends and family of the driver found the car submerged after pinging the teen driver's cell phone by using the app Life 360.
Troopers estimated that the driver was going at least 80 mph before the crash.
The victim was identified by family through an online fundraising site as 19-year-old Zoey Barr.
The roadway was closed for hours but has since reopened.
