SANFORD, N.C. (WTVD) -- A small plane with a family of four on board crashed in a field Monday in Lee County near Raleigh Executive Jetport.
According to the North Carolina Highway Patrol (NCSHP), troopers responded to the crash just after 2 p.m. The plane was found in a field between Wallace Creek Lane and Riddle Road.
The Highway Patrol confirmed Monday evening that all four people on the plane died. Three died at the scene, and the fourth person died at UNC Hospital.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) are taking over the investigation of the crash. Both agencies are expected to arrive at the site on Tuesday.
Lee County law enforcement will provide security at the scene.
A spokesperson for the FAA told ABC11 that the plane was a Cirrus SR22T.
